Imphal, July 20 2025: Villagers of Chingkhu in Imphal East district drew immediate attention of authority concerned over sluggish pace of construction of the Haraorou Cosmopolitan Primary School building and demanded black listing of the contractor concerned for the inordinate delay in completing the project.

Chingkhu villagers along with a team of media persons inspected present condition of the primary school on Saturday.

During the inspection, local MLA's PWD nominee L Thoiba recalled that work order for construction of building of the Haraorou school located at Chingkhu was issued in April, 2021 but the building remains incomplete till date thereby undermining rights of the students.

The project was taken up with funding from Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan with the Education (S) Department issuing the work order in June, 2021 .

A sub-contractor named Aheibam Brojendro from Waiton was started construction of the school building but it remains unfinished though completion date might have lapsed already, Thoiba opined, adding that RCC toilet of the school has also started leaking.

Urging authority concerned to look into the matter urgently in the interest of students, Thoiba demanded black listing of the contractor concerned for inordinate delay in completing the project.
