Peace Committee decries silence of Ministers

The Peace Committee, Wangkhei Kendra, has denounced the silence of the Council of Ministers over the gruesome killing of women & children by armed militants in the State.
Addressing a press conference today at Government Music & Dance College in Palace Compound, Peace Committee convenor Mahendra Naorem said that the recent abduction and brutal killing of six individuals, including women and children by Kuki militants in Jiribam district sent shockwaves throughout the State.
Denouncing the silence and inaction of the Council of Ministers, he urged the Council to take immediate and decisive measures to bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice.
He shared that an emergency meeting between the representatives of the Peace Committee and Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar on Sunday regarding the escalating violence in the State.
He continued that during the meeting a 3-point memorandum was submitted to the MLA asking him to take necessary steps to hold a meeting between the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers including the Chief Minister.
"If the PM fails to respond positively, the State Government including CM, Ministers and all BJP MLAs should hold a press meet at the national capital disclosing the reasons for resignation of all BJP MLAs from the BJP", he added.
He also asserted that the memorandum demanded the Government to declare the Hmar militant HPC-D, involved in gruesome, heinous and inhuman abduction & killing of six women and children in Jiribam, as a terrorist organisation.
Furthermore, Mahendra Naorem cautioned that if the State Government fails to fulfil the demands listed in the memorandum, the Committee along with different CSOs will launch an intense form of agitation.
