Imphal, September 13 2025:
All Manipur Nupi Marup (AMNM) has appealed to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to make necessary arrangements to resettle the internally displaced persons (IDPs) at their original places before the Ningol Chakkouba festival, which falls on October 23, 2025 .
In a release, AMNM stated that displaced persons are enduring all kinds of misery in relief camps and temporary shelters for the last 25 months after their houses were burnt down by militants.
AMNM expressed concern over the increasing cases of suicides among the IDPs and added that immense hardships and struggles of displacement have forced many IDPs to take the extreme step.
AMNM urged the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to address the grievances and needs of the IDPs who are living in miserable conditions.
The Nupi Marup continued that the Government should consider the plight of the public and make a concerted effort to end the conflict and restore peace & normalcy in the State.
The Nupi Marup expressed hope that the newly appointed Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel will continue the work of his predecessor and formluate a roadmap for resettlement of IDPs at the earliest.
The Nupi Marup appealed to the Governorin-council to establish a Comprehensive action plan for permanent resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced persons affected by the crisis, with specific attention to address their livelihood and health-related challenges.
"Normalcy would only return in Manipur when the thousands of people living in relief camps & temporary shelters are able to safely return to their respective homes", concluded AMNM .
