Imphal, August 11 2025: A combined team of Thoubal police commandos and a column of 33 Assam Rifles arrested the leader of KCP (PWG) Mayengbam Amitab Singh alias Khaba from Tekcham Maning Ching area under Khongjom Police Station, Thoubal around noon today.

He was arrested along with arms and ammunition including one .32 pistol along with a magazine and five live rounds, 45 live rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, 4 magazines of Insas Rifle, 2 mobile phones and one carry bag.

The arrest was carried out after the security forces received reliable information about the presence of some members of a banned underground outfit loitering with the intent to carry out monetary extortion from the public of Thoubal at Tekcham Maning Ching.

During the spot interrogation, the arrested person identified himself as Mayengbam Amitab Singh alias Khaba (32), s/o M Sobha Singh of Wabagai Thingel Leikai and an active cadre of KCP (PWG).

According to sources, the arrested person is the main accused in a case pertaining to threats on NIT Imphal.

He was also involved in firing on Thoubal commando personnel during a raid conducted to destroy his camp.

Mayengbam Amitab was later handed over to Khongjom Police Station for necessary investigation and legal procedure, said sources.
