Condemnations pour in against killing student : AMUCO rebuts Dy CM's claim

Censuring the statement of Dy CM Gaikhangam, also in-charge of Home�who said on the floor of the House that police committed no excess during the stand-off with a group of agitating students which resulted in the death of Sapam Robinhood, the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has demanded Dy CM Gaikhangam to tender apology to the public for his remark.
A statement issued by T Gandhi Meetei, secretary general, AMUCO while con- veying strong skepticism to the assurance of the Govt for making changes in the MRVTMW Bill, urged the people not to be misled by such false assurance while also urging the people to carry on the agitation until the Govt wakes up to the reality.
The State Govt's initiative to give protection to outsiders through the Bill amidst the popular demand for protection of the indigenous people of the State is an ample example of the 'anti-people' stand of the Govt, AMUCO said.
The step taken by the Govt for the protection of outsiders is likely to open a dark phase in history.
Pointing out that there are some MLAs who endorsed passing of the MRVTMW Bill in the Assembly, AMUCO also called upon the people to teach a lesson to those anti-people Ministers and MLAs.
There will be no other options for the protection of indigenous people of the State other than sustaining the agitation until the Govt wakes up to the reality.
AMUCO also extended solidarity to the family of a young student, Sapam Robinhood who died in police action against protesters demanding ILPS in the State.
The Social Worker Congress, Khongman, has mean- while vehemently condemned the atrocious acts of the security forces in suppressing the movement for protection of indigenous people of the State.
SWC also condoled the demise of Sapam Robinhood.
Condemning the killing of Robinhood, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) said that the people's movement for the protection of indigenous people can never be suppressed by any means.
Pointing out that the movement is not only for few people, PLMPAM said the Govt should settle the issue amicably once for all.
Vehemently condemning the killing of Robinhood and injuring of many other student protesters by the police, Moirang College Students' Union urged the authority concerned to immediately reopen educational institutions which remained closed following the incident.
Condemning the killing of Robinhood and injuring many student protesters, National Identity Protection Committee (NIPCO), All India Students' Federation (AISF), Manipur State Council, Communist Party of India, MSC, Roadside Vendors' Welfare Association, All Manipur Muslims (Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association, All Lilong Chajing Clubs Organisation, Golapati Clubs Coordinating Committee, Women Development Manipur, Bright Educational Career Association, Malem Meira Paibi Apunba Nupi Lup, Minorities Development Forum, Manipur, Reformist Students' Union, Kangabam Leikai Apunba Nupi Marup, The Young Socio Cultural Union, Langthabal Khoupum Cultural Club, Moirang Hanuba Youth Development Club, Thoubal Apunba Lup (TAL), Apunba Manipur Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK), have demanded the implementation of ILPS in Manipur.
