Ukhrul, May 10 2025:
The affected landowners of Shangshak-Tengnoupal NH-102 (package-1) have renounced the joint meeting resolution concerning land acquisition for construction of the NH passing through the villages from Shangshak to Khambi village under Phungyar Block of Kamjong.
The meeting held on May 7 was reportedly chaired by DC Kamjong Rangnamei Rang Peter.
Among the land affected owners, Yuingam Kapai of Koso village highlighted that after learning of the resolution, the seven neighbouring villages (Shangshak, Koso, Leishi, Phalang, Leiting, Shakok and Khambi) held a meeting yesterday at Phalang Village Community Hall, and unanimously resolved to oppose the adopted resolution.
According to him, the resolution undermines the rights of the land owners of the affected villages.
The resolution directed the headman/chairman/VA to take initiative to inform all affected landowners/house-holds falling within their jurisdiction to willingly dismantle unauthorized/illegal structures (structures con-structed/erected after the notification under section 3A) along the stretch from Koso to Sorbung on or before May 30, 2025.It cautioned that in case of failure to comply, a necessary course of action will be taken as per relevant law by the competent authority.
The affected landowners have strongly contested the resolution, stating that there was no understanding or agreement between the land owners and the concerned department.
The road survey was conducted without giving prior information to the land owners and identification of the project components were not done properly.
Additionally, the survey was conducted back in 2021, said Yuingam.
