Ningol Chakkouba celebrated widely with warmth, enthusiasm

Ningol Chakkouba, the cherished festival that celebrates the sacred bond between brothers and sisters, was celebrated with great warmth and enthusiasm at Ima Laikhulembi Shanglen in Khurai Sajor Leikai on Sunday.
Traditionally observed on the second day of the Manipuri lunar month of Hiyangei, the festival highlights the importance of women in Manipuri society and fosters familial ties, making it a cherished occasion for many in the region.
Today's celebration was organised by the E-Pao Tengbang Lup, Manipur under the theme, "Machin Moupwagi Senglaba Nungsinabagi Mari" .
The event was graced by Dr Th Sunildeba, convenor, E-Pao Tengbang Lup, Manipur; Athokpam Okendra, advisor, E-Pao Tengbang Lup, Manipur; Naorem Kirankumar.

The event was marked by the presentation of simple gifts to the 'Ningols' and a ceremonial feast, symbolising love, respect and blessings.
It may be mentioned that in connection with the Ningol Chakkouba festival, E-Pao Tengbang Lup, Manipur on October 22 successfully organised the 44th Voluntary Blood Donation Camp with the theme, "Nongolsing gi mafamda tamjaba eegee khudol".
Similarly, Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS) on Sunday hosted a Ningol Chakkouba event at its head office in Kwakeithel to celebrate the bond of love between married women and their paternal families.
The event was accompanied by a "Prize Distribution Ceremony of 11th State Level Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Ningsing Painting & Essay Writing Competition".
It was attended by Puyam Joy, chief advisor, AIMS; Somorendro Thokchom, president, LIPUL; Naorem Memma, president, IKAL; Wahengbam Luwangleima, general secretary.
IKAL; Dr Naorem Sanatomba Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Manipuri, Manipur University; Dr Waikhom Romesh Singh, Assistant Professor, Department of Manipuri, Dhanamanjuri University; Ningombam Shreema Devi, Assistant Professor, Nambol L Sanoi College; and Longjam Thonglen Meitei, president, AIMS as presidium members.
At the event, Longjam Thonglen announced that AIMS will be launching an academic campaign soon under the theme, "Students role in shaping our own collective future".
He shared that the campaign will focused on ten points namely- "Let's get education for true course", "Let's learn and read for sake of our motherland", "Let's sacrifice to save our own people", "Equal student's equal treatment", "Let's preserve nature to save life", "Book, home and school; our sacred place", "We won't involve in movement, don't pave the way", "During and intoxicants is our enemy", "Let's aware about electoral politics for our social regeneration", and "Let's increase our population to save our land" .
The highlight of the event was a grand feast and presentation of gifts to the Ningols and prizes to the winners of the 11th State Level Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Ningsing Painting & Essay Writing Competition.
Moreover, Apunba Shinmigee Chaokhat Thourang Lup (ASCTL) on Sunday organised the "7th Foundation Day and Ningol Chakkouba" celebrations at NESU Ground, Khurai.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including former Minister Bijoy Koijam, social activist Dr Kiran Yendrembam, social worker Thangjam Subhas Chandra, ASCTL president Oinam Inao Devi and Ksh Bikramjit Singh, Assistant Registrar, Cooperative Societies Manipur.
