DESAM asks MU Education Department to complete Pre-PhD admission process

Imphal, May 09 2026: The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded the Head of Department of Education, Manipur University, to conduct personal interview of Pre-PhD candidates and declare the results within 5 days.

The notification for admission to the Pre-PhD programme in the Department of Education was issued on September 12, 2025 .

However, the Department has not yet held the personal interview of short-listed candidates, said DESAM in a statement.

The Department must hold the personal interview of the shortlisted candidates and declare the results within 5 days, it said.

Further delay in the process could affect candidates' career, and the HOD shall bear the responsibility, it said.

To prevent such delay and lapses in the university in the future, the departments must fix a deadline, and the HoDs concerned shall be made to pay the scholarship money to research scholars concerned in case there is a delay, said DESAM.

Further, teacher candidates must be verified and punished for violation if any, it added.
