Imphal, September 08 2025:
The Prime Minister's proposed visit on September 13 is welcomed, but he should stay for a longer period if anything is to be achieved, Shiv Sena State president M Tombi has said.
Speaking to reporters at the party's office at Babupara, Tombi compared the Prime Minister's proposed visit to a Kabaddi match - a contact sport where the player of a team attempts to touch opponent players and return hurriedly, lasting only a few seconds.
Tombi said according to reports, the Prime Minister is expected to stay only a couple of hours in Manipur.
Further, his much awaited visit seems to be some short of a detour on his way to visit other States.
People will not be pleased by such a visit, he added.
The PM last visited Manipur in 2022.This will be his first visit after violence broke out in May 2023 .
Since conflict broke out, people have been urging the Prime Minister to visit the State just once.
If he has people's interests in his mind, he should stay here for a longer period of time, Tombi said.
Visiting the State for only 2-3 hours will not please the people.
Nonetheless, during his highly anticipated short visit, the PM should bring out policies to address die plights of the internally displaced person, who have suffered the most., Tombi said.
The Prime Minister should announce benefits and projects to rehabilitate the internally displaced persons.
He should also announce a proper plan to restore normalcy and bring a resolution to the crisis, Tombi added.
