"Legends of Manipur: Retelling the Puyas" launched at EFL University

Imphal, November 04 2025: A book celebrating the rich literary and cultural heritage of Manipur, titled "Legends of Manipur: Retelling the Puyas," authored by Dr Rosy Yumnam, Associate Professor, Department of ELT, The English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), Shillong, and published by Mittal Publications, New Delhi, was officially launched today during the International Conference on "The Indian Knowledge System in the Curriculum: Pedagogical Perspectives" held at The English and Foreign Languages University, Shillong Campus.

The book was unveiled in the presence of Dr N Munish Singh, Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Shillong, who attended as the chief guest and Prof Ana Sanchez-Munoz, California State University, Northridge, USA, who delivered the keynote address.

The event was presided over by Prof Mousumi Guha Banerjee, Director, EFLU, Shillong Campus, while Prof N Nagaraju, Vice Chancellor, EFLU, Hyderabad, served as the president of the event.

The launch drew an enthusiastic audience of scholars, researchers and students who gathered to celebrate this significant scholarly contribution that underscores the importance of indigenous knowledge systems and oral traditions in shaping contemporary pedagogy.
