Imphal, September 03 2026: The 39th Foundation Day of Writers' Forum, Imphal was celebrated today at Manipur Hindi Parishad hall.

Government of Manipur, Art and Culture Secretary N Praveen was the chief guest while Forum president Irungbam Basanta presided.

On the occasion, 15 writers honoured with National, State and Sahitya Akademi awards for contribution to Manipuri Khorilorol were felicitated.

They are Thoidingjam Tombi, Ksh Sanajaoba, Kangjam Ibohal, Keisham Priyokumar, Yumlembam Ibomcha, RK Bhubonsana, Haobam Nalini Devi, Arambam Memchoubi, Manaobi MM, Meghachandra Kongbam, Dilip Mayengbam, Nahakpam Aruna, Debdas Mairenbam, Wahengbam Romen Meetei and Budhichandra Heisnamba.

Writers' Forum celebrates 39th foundation day

The Forum also organised a recitation competition for Class IX and X students and a written quiz competition for Class XI and XII students in collaboration with Manipur State Kala Akademi.

Prizes for recitation were sponsored by G Shanti Kumari Devi, publisher of Poknapham and for quiz by former Law Secretary Angom Sukumar Singh.

Two books, "Loibi Chinggum Lengdana" by Imojit Ningomba and the 133rd issue of "Sahityagi Pao", were released.

In the recitation competition, Laishram Geetanjali Devi of Diligent Public School, Moirang bagged first position, Mangahbisana Ngathem of Pitambara English School second and Leishangthem George Singh of the same school third.

In the written quiz, Khangjrakpam Panthoisana of TG Hr Sec School secured first, Tosan Singh Khagokpam of Herbert School second and Linthoi Laishram of Prism Academia third.
