DM alumni group facilitates free eye operations for 13

Continuing their humanitarian work, Alumni DM College of Science (XII-1996 and TDC-1999) Batch has facilitated free eye operations for 13 individuals, including displaced folks from Kumbi Awang High School Relief Camp.
This philanthropic initiative was made possible by the efforts of practising doctors who are members of the Alumni group and Yaima Eye Hospital and Research Centre, whose joint initiatives have helped treat many cases of cataracts and vision ailments free of cost in the past.
On December 1, the 13 individuals (9 women, 4 men) from Kumbi Awang High School Relief Camp and surrounding areas successfully underwent ophthalmic surgeries at Yaima Eye Hospital and Research Centre.
Notably, a free mega health camp and eye check up was conducted on November 30 at Kumbi Awang High School through which the 13 individuals with vision impairments were selected to undergo the treatment in the first batch.
According to Alumni group member Ningthoukhongjam Madhusudon, free medicines have been given to the patients and the required spectacles will also be provided.
After one month, they will undergo surgery on the remaining eye to complete their treatment at Yaima Eye Hospital.
He assured that the Alumni group will continue to engage in such philanthropic activities with the help of Yaima Eye Hospital in the future as well.
Meanwhile, Salam Ibemhal, an IDP who fled from, her home in Churachandpur Mar Veng, has extended her gratitude to the Alumni group and Yaima Eye Hospital.
Nongmaithem Shankar, general secretary, Kumbi IDL Youth Development Organisation has also thanked both for conducting free health camps and eye check-ups for IDPs and facilitating eye operations for those who need it.
