Social Welfare Minister meets victims of Koutruk attack

Following the recent attack on unarmed villagers in Koutruk, Imphal West, Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo Singh on Monday visited the victims of the brutal attack and assured them to take up necessary steps to ensure their safety.
The Minister gave his assurance that he will talk with the Chief Minister to increase the number of State Forces in the area, said a release.
He also asserted that steps will be taken to conduct a survey to assess the damages caused to houses/ properties by the recent attack.
As part of the visit, Heikham Dingo also met with the villagers of Koutruk who are currently taking shelter at the relief camp opened at Phumlou Keiroi and the State Forces deployed in the area.
A team of SDO Lamsang under the supervision of the Minister also distributed relief materials to the people.
Notably, suspected Kuki militants launched drone attacks in the Koutruk area on Sunday, resulting in the death of a woman and injuring ten others, including her 6-year-old daughter and a journalist.
