SICO Plastic marks 100-day milestone in plastic collection drive at Khangabok

The Social Impact and Cleanliness Organisation (SICO) Plastic Khangabok, Thoubal has successfully completed 100 days of its ongoing plastic and other waste collection campaign.
SICO Plastic began the plastic collection on March 10, 2025 and has impactful results in tackling plastic waste in the district.
To mark the occasion, a special event was held today at Khangabok Mayai Leikai Community Hall, graced by Khangabok AC MLA Okram Surjakumar, Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, Hannah Kamei, Khangabok Pt II GP chairperson, M Gopiramohon and Khangabok Pt III GP chairperson, M Mohin as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, MLA Surjakumar emphasized the need for behavioral change and collective responsibility in preserving the environment.
He also highlighted the pressing issue of plastic pollution and urged people to minimize single-use plastics and opt for other environmentally friendly alternatives used in the past.
Deputy Commissioner, Hannah Kamei appreciated the community-driven initiative launched by the SICO for a plastic free environment.
She also appealed to the people to co-operate and extend support to the Government when such similar campaigns are launched by the Government.
SICO Plastic founder, Kh Bishorjit said that the initiative was launched by a group of like minded people from February 20 and have taken the initiative of collecting plastic bottles and other wastage that are being litter along the road stretches from Khongjom to Canchipur.
He also lauded the support received from Lilanda Usham of Khangabok and Sintha Ngamba Laishram who provided valuable suggestions in making the campaign a success.
