Road work likely to take off by Oct

Imphal, September 21 2018:
Construction work of Wangjing-Kongkhang section of Imphal-Moreh highway is most like to take off by October.
NHIDCL is the implementing agency of the road construction work and the necessary amount is funded by Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the form of loan.
The Government has been planning to construct Lilong-Wangjing section as well as Kongkhang-Moreh bypass (ICP) with loans from ADB.
The two road sections will be constructed with NHIDCL as the implementing agency.
According to information received from NHIDCL, work order for construction of the 45.68 Kms long Wangjing-Kongkhang section has been awarded to GR Infra Private Limited, and a contract agreement has been already signed.
The appointed date will be allotted once Durga Puja festival is over.
As per the contract agreement, the road construction work should be completed within 3 years from the day the appointed date is given.
The estimated cost of the road construction work Rs 457.7 crore.
The road will have two lanes and it will be 10 metres wide.
Moreover, it will have paved shoulders and there will be service lanes 5.5 m wide on both sides at different points of the road.
The road section will be equipped with an underpass at Kakching Lamkhai.
At the same time, plans are afoot to start construction work of Kongkhang-Moreh section with loans from ADB within the current financial year.
The same section has been already surveyed by a team which included ADB officials.
