MCOP to announce candidate details for election

Manipur Committee for Outer Parliament (MCOP) has declared that it will announce the name of the candidate who will contest the coming 17th Lok Sabha election.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, MCOP president RA Fernandez said that MCOP was established prior to three Lok Sabha election terms, with the aim of bringing development to 28 Assembly Constituencies of the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency.
Out of the said 28 constituencies, 20 are mostly in hill districts while the remaining 8, including Jiribam, are in the valley, he added.
MCOP has been organising political awareness and mobilisation campaigns since the first week of December in various parts of the 28 A/Cs, the president said adding that the party has also interacted with seven individuals who are desirous to be the candidates.
An 11 member search committee has as been formed and based on the report submitted by the search committee, the name of a specific' candidates must be announced, he explained.
Replying to a query, Fernandez said that MCOP will not support any particular political party but the party will try to produce a candidate after considering his or her credentials and capacity, for the betterment of the society.
