People's Action Committee Against Brutal Custodial Killing of Th Manorama Devi has geared up for the 'Wakat Khongchat' to be organized by it at Bamon Kampu tomorrow as part of the ongoing mass move-merit being spearheaded jointly by the 32 organizations.
A public meeting to discuss further course of action to be taken up for putting more intense pressure on the State Govt would also be finalized at the occasion, a PAC statement said, while appealing to all the people to take part in the meeting.
The PAC statement also come out strongly on the indifferent attitude of Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh towards the public demand for complete revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from Manipur and said that lifting of the Act from Imphal Municipal area alone would not dissuade the people to end their agitation as the impact of the Act is being felt equally by people living in all parts of the State.
Reacting Chief Minister's address on the occasion of Independence Day yesterday, PAC categorically stated that public demand for repealing of AFSPA should not be mixed with insurgency problem.
It also held the Government responsible for the death of Konjengbam Memita of Taret Khul, who succumbed to the injuries suffered in police action during mass court arrest and Pebam Chitaranjan, who self-immolated, while praising their courage.
PAC further castigated State security personnel for using force against the protestors and the Government for banning ISTV from broadcasting news.
Meanwhile, United people's Action Committee, Singjamei Chingamakha has condemned the Govt for not allowing to hold a public meeting in connection with the ongoing agitation at BOAT here today.
