Motbung bodies, Kangpokpi CSOs warn

Kangpokpi, June 05 2017:
Motbung local bodies and CSOs, Kangpokpi have expressed serious concern over the unfinished slab culvert constructed in the heart of Motbung town.
The slab culvert reportedly constructed by PWD National Highway Division at two locations along NH 2 at Motbung Bazar vicinity which was left incomplete has become a threat to many commuters and vehicles.
Many unreported accidents had occurred in the past owing to the unfinished slab culvert and even wife of a Reverend namely Tingnu Kipgen had reportedly lost her life last year at the particular spot.
The debris left at the construction site produced enormous dust particles.

Motbung local bodies including Motbung Village Authority, Motbung Area Women Union and CSOs Kangpokpi led by Motbung chief, Kaikhosei Lhouvum, who is also the Executive Member and local MDC of ADC Sadar Hills inspected the unfinished culverts today afternoon.
Speaking to this reporter, Kaikhosei Lhouvum said that even after numerous assurance by the Government for completion of the slab culvert, no progress has been seen till date.
The village Chief, who is also the local MDC has urged the State Government and concerned Department to complete the unfinished construction work of the two slab culverts within this month considering the untold grievances of the people.
He further said that the people of Motbung are set to launch a series of agitation if the construction work is not completed within this month.
Meanwhile, CSOs Kangpokpi also expressed its sincere endorsement to the stand of Motbung local bodies and conveyed that it would support any movement taken up by the local bodies in case the Government fails to address the grievances of the people within the stipulated time.
