Three more hunger strikers arrested

Three more women agitators who have been on a fast unto death stir demanding conversion of Sadar Hills to a full fledged district have been pulled up by police and sent to judicial custody.
The three women were pulled up from Sapermeina at about 8 am today.
The arrested women activists have been identified as Kimlhai Lhouvum (50) of S Bollen village, Hatneng Khongsai (54) of Eastern Sapermeina and Ngamthem Gangte (54) of Salem.
They started their fast unto death agitation together from August 23.They were produced in the Court of CJM Senapati this afternoon.
Later, with consent of the Magistrate, the three agitators were sent to judicial custody.
One woman leader Vahchin Haokip who accompanied the arrested agitators said that all three of them have become very weak.
Two other women agitators have already been arrested and sent to judicial custody for undertaking the same kind of agitation.
She decried that Chief Minister O Ibobi and his Ministers have been giving little attention to the 40 years old demand of Sadar Hills people.
Such callousness on the part of the Government have shocked the women volunteers who have been taking an active part in the movement for a separate district of Sadar Hills.
Vahchin Haokip said that they would carry on the fast unto death campaign until the demand for Sadar Hills district is fulfilled.
