Residents of Tokpaching village have appealed to the relevant authorities to complete the construction of the 10.6 km long stretch road from Kakching Khunou Lamkhai to Ithai, which serve as the vital link for the villages of Tokpaching, Sharik Konjin, Thongam Khunou, etc under Hiyanglam Assembly Constituency.
While inspecting the condition of the road stretch along with a team of media persons, a resident of Tokpaching Lai Mamang, Heisnam Biramani said, the road stretch from Kakching Khunou to Ithai which is an Inter Village Road (IVR) began its construction from March 12, 2019 under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) .
He stated that even though the road construction for most of the part have been completed, the remaining 2 km road stretch from Tokpaching Thongkhong also known as Kakching Khunou Thongkhong to Mondum Mahadev Mamang still remains incomplete and is in a dilapidated condition.
With the arrival of the monsoon season, the villagers including students and people who visit Mondum Mahadeva to offer prayers are facing immense hardships and inconveniences due to the non-completion of the road, said Biramani.
He therefore appealed to the MLA of Hiyanglam Constituency, Dr Yumnam Radheshyam, the concerned contractor and other relevant authorities for early completion of the road in view of the plight of the villagers.
