Free medical camp and ASHA convention held at Pherzawl

Pherzawl, January 24 2026:
A free medical camp-cum-cataract screening programme for senior citizens along with a district-level ASHA convention, was organised at the Pherzawl District Headquarters on Saturday with the objective of strengthening community healthcare services.
The medical camp, marking the third day of the ongoing initiative, was organised by the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with the Pherzawl District Administration and District Health Society.
A large number of senior citizens benefited from the camp, availing services such as eye check-ups and cataract screening.
Several patients diagnosed with cataracts were advised for free surgical operations, while others suffering from various eye-related ailments were provided free medicines.

In addition, free health check-ups for adolescent girls under BBBP initiatives were also conducted to address various health concerns.
Medicines were distributed free of cost, and screening for malaria cases was carried out, reinforcing preventive healthcare measures in the district.
The programme witnessed active participation from members of the Pherzawl Village Authority, whose support contributed to the smooth conduct and success of the camp.
Meanwhile, a district-level celebration of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) Convention 2025-2026 was held to recognise the dedicated service of ASHA workers and to strengthen coordination in community health delivery.
The convention was organised by the District Health Society, Pherzawl, and was attended by Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching, Additional Deputy Commissioner Joel G Haokip, sZEO Jangkhohao Haokip and Chief Medical Officer Dr Hmanglamkhup Kom.
