'Shiv Sena open to pre-poll pact with BJP'

Imphal, September 20 2026: Shiv Sena will work to form a pre-poll alliance with the BJP in Manipur for the upcoming State Legislative Assembly elections, said Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare and AYUSH (Independent Charge) .

Addressing the media at the Shiv Sena Manipur office at Babupara today, Prataprao said that Shiv Sena is an alliance partner of the NDA Government at the Centre.

He said the party would explore the possibility of forming an alliance with the BJP in Manipur as well.

Shiv Sena would contest the State Assembly elections even if the BJP declines to form an alliance with the party, he added.

To a media query, Prataprao said that Shiv Sena would support any initiative taken up by the Centre for the welfare of Manipur, including the updation of NRC .

As a partner of the NDA, Shiv Sena would continue to work for the welfare of Manipur, he added.

Saying that he had held discussions with the Chief Minister to construct an AYUSH Wellness Centre in Manipur, he added that such a centre would greatly benefit the people of the State.

Further stating that Manipur is well suited for growing medicinal plants, he said that exploring the possibility of cultivating medicinal plants in vacant areas of the State would be beneficial.

Shiv Sena M Tombi also attended the press briefing.

He said that the party had urged the Minister of State to take necessary measures to update the NRC in Manipur, with 1951 as the base year.
