22nd Private School Day observed

The 22nd Private School Day Observation 2025 was held today at Hotel Imolesh, Old Lambulane Road organised by the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association on the theme "Role of private schools in the successful implementation of NEP 2020 in Manipur" .
The gathering paid a floral tribute to the deceased teachers/members of AMRPSWA.
Delivering the presidential speech, Laishram Joy, president, AMRPSWA raised a call urging people to stop setting up private schools with insincere motives.
He said that they should be honest and follow all rules and regulations while under taking such an important endeavour to provide quality education to the youths and guide them to become well-rounded citizens.
Addressing the topic of NEP 2020, he said that the policy has not been fully implemented in Manipur and stressed on the need for the relevant authorities to make adequate preparations for its implementation considering its benefit to future generations of students.
Saying that AMRPSWA was established on August 19 of 2002, he added that the organisation put in a lot of effort to ensure the implementation of NEP 2020 in Manipur.
As 80% of students in the State study in private schools, it is pertinent for private schools to play a significant role in making sure that the policy is fully enforced in the State.
He also emphasized the need for private schools to come together to tackle their common challenges.
Meanwhile, chief guest Professor Nongmaithem Rajmuhon Singh, former Vice Chancellor, DM University highlighted the substantial contribution of private schools in the education sector.
Stressing on the role of teachers in producing good students, he further asserted that a State cannot develop without progress in the realm of education.
Other notable dignitaries present include Khundrakpam Ashikumar, Secretary, Council of Higher Secondary Education; Sijagurumayum Jitelal Singh, Secretary, Board of Secondary Education Manipur and Namoijam Tomba Singh, advisor, AMRPSWA.
At the event, M Jemina Leima Memorial The Best Teacher Award 2025 was handed over to Giangreiliu Gangmei.
