Mock drills conducted in Thoubal, Kangpokpi

Thoubal/Kangpokpi, May 17 2025:
To strengthen disaster preparedness and response mechanism, civil defence mock drills were carried out in Thoubal and Kangpokpi district today.
In Thoubal, a mock drill under Operation Abhyaas was conducted by District Administration Thoubal at Chaoyaima Higher Secondary School playground.
Main activities featured in the mock drill include air raid warning siren, public announcement via police vehicle, fire engine siren, black out simulation, search and rescue operation, casualty evacuation and civil defence training.
Notable dignitaries present at the mock drill include Thoubal Deputy Commissioner Hannah Kamei; ADM Thoubal B Lokeshwor Sharma; Additional SP Law & Order N Suraj; Additional SP Operation Hijam Debendro, police officers and members of Indian Red Cross Society, Thoubal Branch among others.
Meanwhile, at Kangpokpi under the banner of Operation Abhyaas, the Kangpokpi District Administration conducted a full-scale civil defence mock drill at Elite Higher Secondary School.
The simulated operation began at 9 AM with the blaring of air raid sirens and emergency distress calls.
The drill involved search-and-rescue missions, casualty evacuation, simulated blackouts, the rapid deployment of fire services, setting up of temporary hospital camps, and the relocation of civilians to safe zones.
Over 500 participants, including security personnel, healthcare workers, NCC cadets, and local volunteers, mobilized seamlessly in a textbook example of crisis management.
Present at the site were top district officials, including Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, and Superintendent of Police Manoj Prabhakar, IPS, who closely monitored the drill and later addressed the press.
The event also saw the presence of senior officials including Shokhonam Baite, MCS, ADM Kangpokpi, Hemant Kumar, IAS, SDO T-Waichong, Doujapao Haokip, MCS, CEO SH-ADC), along with officials from the 112 BN CRPF, local police, district departments, and community leaders.
