Pharmacists told to follow prescribed norms

Imphal, May 15 2025: A counselling programme on the Pharmacy Practice Regulations, 2015, organised by Manipur State Pharmacy Council (MSPC) was held on Thursday at the MSPC conference hall, Lamphel with Council president Rajkumar Basumani Singh and vice president Dineshwor Singh in attendance among others.

Over 41 trained and registered pharmacists from various regions of Manipur took part in the programme.

During the session, aprons, ID cards, name tags, certificates, and copies of the Pharmacy Practice Regulations, 2015 Gazette were distributed to all attending pharmacists.

Pharmacists told to follow prescribed norms

In his address, Basumani emphasised that the profession of pharmacy is a noble and vital one, with pharmacists playing a crucial role in the healthcare system world-wide.

He highlighted the importance of legal safeguards for pharmacists, noting that several Acts, including provisions under Sections 10 and 18 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, have been enacted and enforced by the Pharmacy Council of India to protect the rights and responsibilities of pharmacists.

The MPSC president further stated that in Manipur, the implementation of the Pharmacy Practice Regulations Gazette marks a significant step toward ensuring both the welfare of pharmacists and the safety of patients.

He urged all trained and registered pharmacists to strictly adhere to the regulations laid down by the government and the Council.

He also cautioned that strict monitoring and vigilance would be maintained, and penalties would be imposed on those found violating the prescribed rules.
