Over Rs 3 crore settled at 4th National Lok Adalat

Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) organised the fourth & last National Lok Adalat for the calendar year, 2024 on December 14, 2024 at all the District Courts.
According to a release issued by Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, MASLA, the High Court Legal Services Committee also organised National Lok Adalat at High Court of Manipur in which one Bench comprising of RK Memcha Devi, Judge, Family Court, Imphal East as Chairperson; Ojesh Mutum, Registrar General, High Court of Manipur and Kh Ajit Singh, Registrar (Judl), High Court of Manipur as Members was constituted.
Justice D Krishnakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Manipur & Patron-in-Chief, MASLSA along with Justice A Bimol Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Executive Chairman, MASLSA; A Guneshwar Sharma, Judge, High Court of Manipur and Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Judge, High Court of Manipur accompanied by Ojesh Mutum, Alek Muivah and Shanta Athokpam, Registrar (Vigilance), High Court of Manipur visited the sitting of National Lok Adalat at Lamphel Court Complex & Bishnupur Court Complex respectively.
Justice D Krishnakumar and the other Judges of the High Court handed over the award of National Lok Adalat to some of the parties and appreciated everyone for participating in the National Lok Adalat.
Interacting with media persons at Lamphel Court Complex, Bineshwori Maibam, Addl Member Sec-retary, MASLSA said that National Lok Adalat is held four times in a year as per the calendar of National Legal Services Authority.
She stated that both prelitigation and civil cases pending before the Courts such as matrimonial disputes, bank recovery cases, MACT cases, Negotiable Instrument Act cases, land acquisition cases, electricity & water bill cases can be settled before the Lok Adalat.
"The decree passed in the Lok Adalat are akin to decree passed by any Civil Court and they are final and no appeal lies before any other Courts", asserted Bineshwori while appealing to the people to take the opportunity for settlement of disputes through Lok Adalat.
Notably, a total number of 331 cases were taken up in today's National Lok Adalat.
Out of which, 295 cases were settled with a total settlement amount of Rs 3,00,85,077 only.
Y Rother, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal West; N Lanleima, District & Sessions Judge, Imphal East; Monalisa Maibam, Special Judge, ND&PS, Manipur presided as Chairperson of 3 benches of National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court Complex.
Ch Momon Singh, Advocate; Th Rebecca, Advocate; Dr Sapam Dilipkumar Singh, Asst Professor, Department of Law, Manipur University; P Tolen, Advocate; L Rebeda Devi, Advocate and Y Ramananda, Advocate provided their service as Members of the Benches.
MASLSA has expressed its appreciation to Presiding Officers, Judicial Officers, Ld S Devananda, Advocate & Media Coordinator of MASLSA, Ld Advocates, PLVs, staff of the Court & MASLSA, officials of Bank/Insurance Companies, news/print media and all the parties for contributing and participating in
the National Lok Adalat.
