Imphal, February 12:
The proposed 24-hour Manipur hill districts 'chakka' bandh on February 13 called by the Communal Victims Relief and Resettlement Association, Manipur (CVRRAM) has been suspended following an agreement with the chief minister of the state and the CVRRAM representatives on Tuesday.
Informed this to NNN, CVRRAM president Ch Ajang Khongsai and general secretary Thangkam Lupheng said that an agreement has been reached between the chief minister and the association representatives on Tuesday during a meeting held at the Chief Minister's official chamber for immediate payment of the rehabilitation fund to the affected victims' families.
It also, however, informed that in case the payment is not made on time as agreed upon, the CVRRAM would go ahead with the proposed ten-day economic blockade with effect from February 18.It may be mentioned here that the CVRRAM had announced earlier to impose 24-hour Manipur hill districts 'chakka' bandh on February 13 protesting against the Govt's delay in releasing the already sanctioned funds meant for the people affected in the ethnic clashes.
The move of the CVRRAM has been endorsed by the KSO (Gen Hqs) and urged the Govt for early levelling out of the issue.
The CVRRAM expressed its gratitude to the KSO (GHQ) and other social organizations as well as individuals who have extended support to the proposed 24-hour 'chakka' bandh as a sign of solidarity to the sufferings and plights of the ethnic clashes victims.
