Imphal, July 11 2025:
Two more persons have been pulled up in connection with the killing of Meitei Salai Thiyam on July 6 at Thanga Khunjem Leikai, Bishnupur district under Keibul Lamjao police station.
Lamabam Taibanganbi (27) s/o (late) Amuchou of Nagamapal Kangjabi Machin and Yumlembam Kelvin (23) s/o Y Allen of Palace Compound, near Advance Hospital who accompanied the victim on the fateful day were arrested today by a team of Keibul Lamjao police station.
The two were produced before the Court concerned with a prayer to remand them in police custody for further investigation of the case, sources said.
The Court, after hearing the submission of an APP and on perusal of the case record, remanded Lamabam Taibanganbi and Yumlembam Alex to police custody till July 14 .
On July 6 at around 2.40 pm, a scuffle broke out at Thanga Khunjem Leikai area among a party of six persons consisting of three males and three females who reportedly went to Loktak Lake for sightseeing.
During the scuffle, Meitei Salai Thiyam (21) c/o Thiyam Karuna Devi of Palace Compound, Govindajee Road was stabbed by Loitongbam Pinky (22) d/o late Nilamani of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai.
The victim sustained serious injury and was evacuated to CHC Moirang and further referred to Asian Hospital Kwakeithel but he succumbed to the injury during the treatment at Asian Hospital on the same day.
Loitongbam Pinky and Leishangthem Lanchenba (20) s/o Loken of Hiyangthang Maning Leikai surrender before Nambol Police Station along with murder the weapon (knife) on the same evening.
They were taken into the custody of Keibul Lamjao police station on the same night.
Both of them were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on July 7 and remanded to police custody till July 14 for proper investigation of the case.
In the meantime, Keibul Lamjao police station sent a summon to the remaining three other persons who were part of the scuffle including Lamabam Taibanganbi and Yumlembam Kelvin for taking their statements in connection with the case before they were arrested and taken into police custody.
