MLA Surjakumar inaugurates multiple development projects at Thoubal Athokpam

Thoubal, November 09 2025: Khangabok Assembly Constituency MLA, Okram Surjakumar today inaugurated several development projects taken up across Thoubal Athokpam under the Local Area Development Fund (LADF) of Thoubal AC MLA and former CM of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh.

The newly inaugurated projects at Athokpam, include a community hall at Athokpam Awang Leikai; an office building of Athokpam Indoor Game Association (AIGA); the Athokpam Keithel Public Toilet; and a multipurpose hall at Athokpam Keithel.

The main inaugural event, held at Athokpam Keithel Multipurpose Hall, was graced by Khangabok AC MLA Okram Surjakumar; Thoubal Municipal Council chairperson Kh Bishworjit; and Athokpam Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AMPAL) advisor L Leiren Devi as the presidium members.

Speaking at the occasion, MLA O Surjakumar noted that due to congestion and limited space for holding social gatherings, the new community and market facilities were essential to improve the convenience of the local population.

He emphasized that Athokpam Keithel, now serving as a hub for trade and business for several communities, would greatly benefit from these infrastructural developments.

He further urged the people to safeguard and make proper use of the newly constructed facilities for the long-term welfare of the community.

The event was also attended by members of the District Congress Committee Thoubal AC; Meira Paibis, local elders, and various club and association representatives from the village.
