Fast Track Court convicts one, sends another to 20 yrs RI

A Fast Track Special Court has sentenced a 53-year-old man to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and convicted another 63-year-old man under POCSO Act.
The man sentenced to 20 years rigorous imprisonment yesterday has been identified as Huidrom Amusana of Nungoi Makha Leikai.
He had sexually assaulted a minor girl on March 7, 2018.On the other hand, the man who has been convicted for sexual harassment has been identified as Khoisnam Ibohal of Singjamei.
The Court has fixed July 10 for sentence hearing in the case.
In the Court today, Judge W Tonen found that Khoisnam Ibohal, then 58, had sexually harassed a 16-year-old minor who was staying at his rented house in 2020 .
The minor and her family were staying at the house of Khoisnam Ibohal on rent.
A complaint filed by the mother of the victim said the convict regularly flashed and exposed his private part to her daughter.
The convict, on multiple occasions, urinated in front of the minor and made indecent comments.
Khoisnam Ibohal even insisted on the minor to disclose how many times she has had sexual relationships and if she was satisfied.
The convict threatened her not to disclose the encounters to her parents saying he would expel them from their rented accommodation.
On September 19, 2020, Ibohal made some indecent comments and insisted on the minor to have "sexual intercourse" to "put on weight" saying "You are pretty.
However, you are too skinny".
Terrified, the minor victim locked herself in her room and narrated the eerie encounters to her family.
A complaint was then filed and Khoisnam Ibohal was arrested on October 7, 2020 .
The Investigating Officer of the case, Sub Inspector Sinam Maheshori of Women Police Station Imphal West filed the charge sheet against the convict and charges were framed under Section 12 of POCSO Act.
After hearing the submissions and materials on record, the Court today found Khoisnam Ibohal guilty under Section 12 of POCSO Act and fixed July 10 for sentence hearing.
The convict, who was out on bail, was then taken to judicial custody and sent to Manipur Central Jail Sajiwa.
In the other case, Judge W Tonen pronounced the sentence yesterday sending Huidrom Amusana to 20 years RI for sexually assaulting a minor in 2018 .
Notably, Huidrom Amusana was convicted by the same Court on June 30 under Section 6 of POCSO Act.
Huidrom Amusana was produced before the Court from the Central Jail Sajiwa for the sentence hearing.
In the Court, Special Public Prosecutor, M Bishambhor submitted that crime against minor children (female) in the society is on the rise, and there is a necessity for strict punishment that would serve as a deterrent and send a strong message to the society.
The offence committed by the convict is grave in nature, said the Prosecutor, praying for maximum punishment and life imprisonment.
The Court after hearing the submission of the Special PP and defense counsel, sentenced the convict, Huidrom Amusana to rigorous imprisonment of 20 years, and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.It further ordered the State to provide Rs 4 lakh compensation from the victim compensation scheme to the victim for her future education, health care and welfare.
