Rev L Simon Raomai, the Pastor of the Church challenged the congregation on the topic "Christian response to ecological crisis" and P Graceson Ramungna, the Field Consultant, Gideons International brought the thought-provoking message on the topic "Stewardship of God's creation" in the morning and evening service respectively.
In order to educate the children and the youth about the importance of the environment and nature, a painting competition was organised on the topic "The impact of climate change and global warming" .
The Church resolved and pledged for each member to plant one tree to promote green environment and launched Eco Care Organization (ECO) under the Church to advocate for the environment.
Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) Centre Church also observed Green Sunday today.
MBCCCI deacon Dr Lokho Puni said observing Green Sunday is a good step towards promoting green and healthy earth.
Dr Lokho said widespread deforestation, especially in the hills degrades the environment and speeds up global warming.
While deforestation destructs the environment, cultivation of poppy in the hills shrinks virgin forests, degrades the soil and increases carbon-dioxide level in the atmosphere which ultimately heats up the environment.
The weather at present is warmer due to global warming, Dr Lokho Puni said.
He urged all Church members and people to care for earth and plant more trees for a healthy environment.
Zuankamang Daimai, Pastor, MBCCCI led the congregation in a prayer and encouraged all to advocate for environment.
