Imphal, October 31 2025: A fast track special Court has sentenced a 61 -year-old man to undergo 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for sexually assaulting a minor girl in October 2017 .

The sentence was announced today by W Tonen Meitei, Judge of the Fast Track Special Court Number II Manipur.

The same Court had earlier convicted the 61-year-old man under Section 6 of POCSO Act and fixed today for sentence hearing.

The convict hails from Imphal East district.

On October 8, 2017, he sexually assaulted the victim girl, then a 4-year-old.Sentencing the convict to undergo 20 years rigorous imprisonment, the Court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh to be paid within 6 months.

In default of payment of the fine, the convict shall undergo simple imprisonment of another three months, said the Court.

The Court further ordered that Rs 70,000 out of the fine amount shall be given to the victim to meet her expenses and rehabilitation.

The Court also directed the State Government and department concerned to provide a Rs 4 lakh compensation to the minor victim for her education, health care and welfare.

The compensation amount shall be paid within a month, ordered the Court.
