While pointing out that the task for verification/selection of beneficiaries for the fishermen scheme has not yet been finalised, Fisheries Minister N Mangi has appealed to the people to bring to his notice if the names of any genuine fisherman ha-ve been left out.
Addressing a press conference today, the Minister said that the list of the beneficiaries prepared would have to be checked once more and any genuine fishermen who have been left out would be considered for inclusion before bringing out the final list.
The Minister informed that each of the beneficiaries under the Fishermen Welfare Scheme would be provide Rs 40,000 each for construction of houses.
For selecting the beneficiaries, a committee was set up within himself as the chairman, Secretary of Fisheries Department as mem- ber secretary and Director as member.
The area where the sche-me would be implemented and number of beneficiaries to be selected are 40 at Nambol Ishok, 39 at Thanga Karang and 40 at Khordak-Nongmaikhong.
Besides construction of houses for the homeless fishermen, the scheme also envisage dig-ging up community water tank and construction of community halls.
Accordingly, two community tanks would be dug up at Nambol Ishok, two similar community tanks and a community hall at Thanga-Karang and another two community tanks at Khordak Nongmaikhong area, the Minister disclos-ed.
The verification of the beneficiaries of these areas have been completed.
However, this is not the final, the Minister said, adding that another round of checking would be done to see whether anything has been left out or not.
After completing all these tasks, the final selection has to be done by the State level Selection Committee, the Minister informed.
