New Delhi, May 26 2015 : Marking the completion of his first year in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today spelt out the achievements of his Government, complete with facts, figures and statistics, on an interactive page on his personal website.

In a self-assessment of sorts, the Prime Minister judged his own administration on various parameters that included overall governance, foreign policy, pet schemes and a comparative analysis with the earlier UPA regime.

The 'report-card' displays a marked shift from the earlier Congress-led administration which has often confessed to not being able to highlight its own achievements.

In the general elections last year, that very failure had spelt doom for the Congress party falling to its heaviest defeat in history at the hands of the BJP.

The interactive page, that has been designed to look glossy and sleek, tom-toms the Government's record on parameters such as index of industrial production, growth in electricity generation, number of transmission lines, coal production figures and the country's forex reserves.

For example, the PM's statistics on electricity generation show that his administration has achieved 8.4 pc growth in electricity generation compared to 6 pc growth in the UPA regime.

In terms of new roads, the Modi Government claims to have built 7,980 kilometres of roads and highways in the last one year compared to 3,621 kilometres during 2013-14.On the cleanliness front, the Modi Government says it has built more than 58 lakh toilets in 2014-15 compared to 49 lakh toilets.

PM Modi, who has received praise and brickbats equally, for his renewed focus on foreign policy makes the case that his visits have 'generated tremendous gains for India.' India's stand at World Trade Organisation (WTO), its relations with SAARC Nations and the spotlight on PM Modi's pet scheme of 'Make in India' are some of the examples that are highlighted on the page.

The interactive page also has several backlinks to some of the Government's popular programmes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, the 'Make in India' campaign and education scholarships through the Pradhan Mantri Vidyalakshmi Karyakram.

Also, in a letter to the Nation that was published on the front pages of all leading English and vernacular dailies today, PM Modi sought to re-assure the countrymen that his Government is clear about its challenges.

"We assumed office at a time when confidence in the India story was waning.

Un-abated corruption and indecisiveness had paralyzed the Government.

People had been left helpless against ever climbing inflation and economic insecurity.

Urgent and decisive action was needed," he wrote.

The Prime Minister goes on to add that from setting up a SIT against black money to launching the Swacch Bharat mission, his administration is dedicated to working for the poor and the marginalized.

He concludes the letter saying that the Government's objective is to improve the quality of life and to build the 'India of your dreams and that of our freedom fighters' .

On Twitter, marking the anniversary, PM Modi said that the 'world is optimistic about India' .

H also wrote that those who share their thoughts using the hashtag will get personalized messages from the Prime Minister himself.

The hashtag, unsurprisingly, was trending at the top of Twitter all morning today.
