Imphal, July 24 2025: In a major anti-narcotics operation, four persons were arrested and a large quantity of brown sugar, unaccounted cash, vehicles, and other materials were seized during a joint cordon and search operation conducted in T Khullen village under Kangpokpi police station.

Based on credible inputs regarding narcotics trafficking in the area, joint teams of Kangpokpi district police, Senapati district police, and personnel from 112 CRPF and 94 CRPF launched the operation.

During the search, the security team recovered 273 soap cases suspected to contain brown sugar, weighing approximately 3.5 kg.

Alongside the narcotics, Rs 99,09,850 cash, seven mobile phones, a Tata DI, a Hyundai Creta car, financial documents, and various items suspected to be used in drug trafficking were seized.

The four individuals arrested have been identified as S Poubinah Teinamei (31), daughter of Kapong Shakpa Teinamei of T Khullen, Kangpokpi district; PF Adaphro (34), wife of TK Rocky of T Khullen; S Boibina (29), wife of Moses of T Khullen; and Lungdinibou Thiumei (52), son of Mahenthui Thuimei of Khundong Khunkhaiba, all of Tamenglong district.

An FIR has been registered at Kangpokpi PS and further investigation is underway.

Meanwhile, a team of Lilong police station recovered 2 kg brown sugar during routine frisking and checking nearby the gate of the police station on Tuesday evening.

However, an individual from whom the narcotics drug consignment was recovered managed to escape.

According to a Manipur Police Control Room statement, a team of Lilong police station on routine frisking and checking duty spotted an individual riding a Yamaha Fascino scooter trying to avoid the police check point.

The man eventually abandoned the two-wheeler and disappeared taking advantage of darkness.

Upon checking the abandoned vehicle, brown sugar weighing approximately 2 kg was found.

The two-wheeler and the brown sugar were seized as per procedure while efforts are on to identify the rider and arrest him, the statement added.
