Seven more test positive, active cases reach 19

Imphal, June 16 2025:
The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases has reached 20 in the State with seven more samples confirmed today.
Altogether 16 samples were tested today and seven were confirmed positive, returning a positivity rate of 43.8 per cent.
The seven individuals who have been tested COVID-19 positive today are residents of Imphal West (5), Kakching (1) and Thoubal (1).Of the 20 cumulative cases of COVID-19, one has been discharged following recovery.
As such, there are 19 active cases at the moment.
While 16 are in home isolation, three are undergoing treatment at hospitals.
Meanwhile, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today chaired a COVID-19 review meeting at the Raj Bhavan.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary PK Singh, senior medical officials from the State Health Department and other authorities concerned, said a press release issued by the Governor's Secretariat.
The review was held in view of recent directives from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, on enhanced preparedness amid rising concerns of a possible COVID-19 resurgence.
Officials briefed the Governor on the State's preparedness, including diagnostics, protective equipment, oxygen supply, ICU and isolation wards, essential drugs, and the IDSP-IHIP portal.
Challenges related to testing capacity, medical supplies and hospital readiness were also discussed.
The Governor advised the importance of proactive measures, adequate medical infrastructure, and community awareness to ensure the State remains equipped to handle any potential surge in Covid cases.
