Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay foundation stones for projects worth Rs 7,300 crore, inaugurate projects valued at Rs 1,200 crore, and meet internally displaced persons in Churachandpur, the epicenter of the violence in Manipur, as well as in Imphal tomorrow.
This marks the first official confirmation of the Prime Minister's visit, which had been kept officially confidential for quite some time by the Government.
Addressing the media at the Secretariat today, the Chief Secretary urged the people of Manipur to welcome the Prime Minister during his visit to the State.

He announced that the Prime Minister will arrive in Churachandpur around 11.30 am and at Imphal's Kangla around 2 pm tomorrow and meet internally displaced persons (IDPs) and address gatherings at both locations.
The Prime Minister will lay foundation stones for 14 projects worth Rs 7,344 crore and inaugurate 17 projects valued at Rs 1,203 crore, Puneet Kumar added.
However, apart from announcing the Prime Minister's visit, the Chief Secretary did not engage further with media persons, as the press briefing concluded abruptly.
The Government had been maintaining strict secrecy regarding the Prime Minister's visit, despite ongoing preparations, including high-level meetings and security arrangements which had been in place for some time.
According to the Chief Secretary, foundation stones for 14 projects viz Manipur urban roads, drainage and asset management improvement project worth Rs 3647 crore, Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) project with infrastructure set up at Imphal and skilling and employment generation across the State valued at Rs 550 crore, working women hostels at nine locations (Rs 142 crore), providing super speciality and assured speciality health care in remote and hill districts, infrastructure development in and around Polo Ground (Rs 30 crore), strengthening of 120 high schools and higher secondary schools in all 16 districts (Rs 134 crore), installation of Grid connected SPV Power Plant at 2 Power Sub-Stations and installation of 5 MW AC Floating SPV Power Plant (Rs 33 crore), various projects pertaining to rural connectivity, education and tourism in various parts of Manipur (Rs 102 crore), construction of multipurpose indoor stadium at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex (Rs 36 crore), upgradation of Naional Highway 102A Shangshak-Tengnoupal section-package 1 (Rs 502 crore), upgradation of Naional Highway 102A Shangshak-Tengnoupal section-package 3 (Rs 778 crore), two laning of road from Choithar to Marrem Khullen section of National Highway 202 under Bharatmala Pariyojana (Package-5) in Ukhrul (Rs 564 crore), two laning of road from Marrem Khullen to Jessami section of National Highway 202 under Bharatmala Pariyojana (Package-6) in Ukhrul (Rs 555 crore) and two laning of road from Jessami to Laynen bridge section of National Highway 202 under Bharatmala Pariyojana (Package-7) in Ukhrul (Rs 165 crore) will be laid by the Prime Minister tomorrow.
The projects which will be inaugurated tomorrow include Manipur Bhawan at Dwarka, New Delhi and Manipur Bhawan at Salt Lake, Kolkata, which were constructed at the total cost of Rs 164 crore and Rs 42 crore respectively.
Other projects which the Prime Minister will inaugurate tomorrow are western river front of Imphal River phase-2 at Imphal which was developed at the estimated cost of Rs 56 crore, Mall Road phase-2 at Imphal (Rs 24 crore), new Police Headquarters a Mantripukhri (Rs 101 crore), IT-SEZ building-1 at Mantripukhri (Rs 114 crore), Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri (Rs 538 crore), Ima Markets at Tengnoupal, Noney, Pallel, Moirang (Rs 24 crore), Leishang Hiden Cultural and Heritage Park, Imphal East (Rs 13 crore), infrastructure development of five Government colleges in Imphal West, Thoubal and Kakching under College Fagathansi Mission (Rs 13 crore), four lane bridge over Irang River in Noney (Rs 49 crore), infrastructure creation for Kamjong district administration (Rs 15 crore), infrastructure creation for Kakching district administration (Rs 12 crore), Eklavya Model Residential School at Tokpa Village, Loktak Project, Churachandpur (Rs 16 crore), institutional building with staff quarter at Ningthoukhong CHC, Bishnupur (Rs 7 crore), institutional building with staff quarter at Saikot CHC, Churachandpur and hostel for paramedical and allied sciences at JNIMS, Imphal (Rs 6 crore) .
