Youths convention to protect State territory on the card

Imphal, January 29: To sensitize the youths of North East on the need to protect the territorial integrity of the region, a political convention for the youths will be held at Imphal sometime in the middle week of February.

Organized by the newly formed All Political Party Youth Forum, the convention will be in the backdrop of the looming threat to the territory of Manipur as a fall out of the ongoing peace talk between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM).

The Convention will concentrate on the need to protect the territory of all the States of the North Eastern region as well as to promote emotional integrity amongst the different communities inhabiting the region.

Disclosing this to newsmen, chairperson of the Forum, Kumari Sharda Devi said that the Youth Forum fully appreciates the campaign launched by the people of Manipur to protect the territory of Manipur in the face of the peace talk held between the Government of India and the NSCN (IM).

The Youth Forum will discard all political differences and ideologies and unitedly face any threat to the territory of Manipur, asserted the young woman and added with equal intensity that not an inch of Manipur's land would be allowed to be bifurcated.

Stating that the Forum will always be on the alert and would closely monitor the developments, Sharda said that one memorandum each would be submitted to all the members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha to protect the territory of Manipur.

A memorandum to this effect would also be submitted to the President of India, she assured.

Convenor of the Forum, P Premanand said that the people of Manipur welcome the assurance from the Prime Minister however the words of the Prime Minister should not lead to complacency, he added.
