RCA overwhelm AKSDO by 139 runs to lift Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2023-24

Imphal, November 06 2023: RCA-Lilong were crowned champions of the 4th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy 2023-24 at Model Hr Sec School and Oriental College ground after beating AKSDO by 139 runs in the title clash today.

Confident RCA amassed a competitive total of 189 runs for 4 in allotted 35 overs courtesy Danish Khan's half century after electing to bat first and bowled out AKSDO-Khangabok for 50 runs in 18.3 overs for the big win as Zunad Hussain produced a scintillating bowling display enroute to his five wicket haul.

RCA had a shaky start as top order batters Md Samir and Nawaz Sharif went out on ducks but Md Safwan (50-ball 28) and Md Anush (47-ball 38) resurrected the innings before Md Danish Khan scored a 63-ball 71 and Naesh added 30-ball 29 for the fifth wicket stand to help the Lilong team post 189 runs.

The innings saw AKSDO's L Nungshiba pick two wickets for 39 runs in 5 overs while N Sanayai and S Lanchenba bagged a wicket apiece.

AKSDO however had a tough outing as top three batters departed cheaply and four batters went out on ducks and eventually slumped at 50 within 18.3 overs with Md Zunad Hussain (5/13) led the RCA bowling attack.

L Samson was the only double digit run getter for AKSDO with 23 runs off 45 balls in their innings which also saw Md Danish of RCA claiming 2 wickets.

Nawaz Sharif and Naesh Hussain also shared a wicket apiece to help RCA cut short AKSDO innings.

Md Danish Khan who shone with both the bat and ball was adjudged man of the match.
