ESU, NISA win in 56th CC Meet

ESU, Wangkhei and Sagolband United beat their respective opponents in today's matches of the ongoing 56th edition of Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Invitation Football Tournament 2012 organised by the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) at Mapal Kangjeibung, Imphal.
The first match which was played between ESU, Wangkhei and Sagolband United ended in a 2-2 draw in the normal time.
In penalty shoot out, ESU won the match by a difference of one goal.
Lamminthang Touthang of ESU drew the first blood in the 22nd minute of the match.
The goal was soon equalised by S Bishwarjit of Sagolband United in the 31st minute.
The first half concluded in a 1-1 draw.
In the second half, Bishwarjit scored a brace in the 54th minute and took his team in the lead.
However their joy was shortlived when Md Amir Khan of ESU scored the equaliser in the 65th minute of the match.
Locked in a tight situation, both teams tried their best to score the winning goal.
As the clock continues ticking, the match ended in a 2-2 draw since no players could scored any further goal in the match.
In the penalty shoot out, L Boynao, A Ratan ans S Ratan of ESU hit the target and won the match while Sagolband United could converted only two shots into goal.
The two successful shots of SU were taken by A Temba and Thangoulun Haokip.
Lammingthang Touthang, A Ratan, Ch Roshan of ESU and Ch Ibomcha, Sasang S of SU were booked yellow cards for playing fouls during the match.
Later in the second match, NISA, Thangmeiband blanked FC Khanglai, Saikul after a tough match.
The match began with high notes among the players of both teams.
Both teams defend themselves well against their opponents and at the same time looked for chances to sneak behind the defence of their opponents.
As a result, the first half concluded in a goalless draw.
In the second half, both teams maintained their formation and kept on guarding their defence line.
However, FC Khanglai players showed signs of fatigue and began to lose formation and proper coordination at times.
Taking full advantage of the situation, NISA edged in two successive goals against their opponents in the 74th and 76th minutes of the match.
The two goals were scored by Michael Joute and M Bijen respectively.
Shocked by the two sudden goals, FC Khanglai players tried their best to equalise the score while racing against time.
However they could not get pass through the strong defence of NISA and failed to get their hopes of equalising the score lost the match with the final whistle.
O Pitler, Michael Joute, M Abhiraj, Meikinlung of NISA and Hangminlen of FC Khanglai were booked yellow cards for their unsporting behaviour during the match.
