37th National Games : State Wushu athletes bag 6 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze on Day 9; cyclists, archers add three gold medals

Manipur had another flourishing day at the 37th National Games as Wushu athletes produced top class performances to add 6 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze medals to the State's tally at Campal Open Ground.
With medals coming in as well from Cycling, Archery, Lawn Bowl and Canoeing and Kayaking, Manipur's medal haul has swelled to 63 medals- 25 gold, 17 silver and 21 bronze.
In Taolu competition, Yengkhom Geeta won gold in Taijijian event and Borish Yurembam in Nangun event while Naorem Roshibina (60 kg), Oinam Bidyapati (56 kg), Athokpam James (56 kg) and Thokchom Meneka Chanu (70 kg) bagged gold medals in Sanda competition.

Konjengbam Luxmi settled for a silver medal in the Nangun event as Moirangthem Samson (48 kg), Heisnam Pravabati (60 kg) and Thangjam Naocha Meitei (60 kg) won silver medals in sanda competition.
Thangjam Aruna and Elangbam Italy Chanu in the meantime finished with bronze medals in women's 52 kg and 70 kg sanda competition.
With today's haul of 12 medals, Manipur have collected as many as 18 medals in Wushu.
Archers add two gold
The day also saw State archers excelling in Indian Round competition and bag two gold, one silver and one bronze.
It were the women's team of Wangkhem Malesori, L Rojina, Keisham Sandiya and Laishram Sophiya who added a gold medal in the Indian round competition before mixed team of Th Heller and Wangkhem Malesori bagged another gold medal.
Malesori also won Manipur a silver medal in the individual competition as Laiphrakpam Rojina earned a bronze.
Cyclists bag two medals
The 9th day also witness cyclists adding 2 medals to the State's tally with the trio- K Rahul, Jemesh Singh and Y Rojit securing a gold medal in the men's 750 m team sprint competition with a 46.50 sec finish and women's 750 m sprint team comprising K Rejiya, T Manorama, M Sonali and H Premika settling for a silver medal at Indira Gandhi Stadium Complex, New Delhi.
Manipur win historic Lawn Bowl bronze
Manipur's pair of Praveshkumar Salam and Mohd Aftaf Ahmad Khan were able to seal a historic bronze medal in the Lawn Bowl competition.
O Arun wins bronze in Canoeing and Kayaking
Manipur also opened account in Canoeing and Kayaking discipline with O Arun securing a bronze medal in the 1000 m K-1 event.
Coach RK Sanajaobi is leading the team managed by H Haridas.
The team is expected to add more medals tomorrow.
