All Manipur Waree Leeba Competition concludes

Thoubal, November 04 2023: The All Manipur Waree Leeba Competition 2023 was organised by Thoubal District Waree Leeba Association under the aegis of Art & Culture Chief Ministergi Tengbang.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition during the valedictory function.

The event was graced by Sangeet Natak Kala Akademi New-Delhi, Advisory Committee member Shamurailatpam Naba Sharma as the chief guest, 9-Tentha Zilla Parishad nominee member Khangembam Priyojit as the president while Tentha Gram Panchayat pradhan Naorem Pradeep and Up-pradhan Moirangthem Rajen attended as the guests of honour.

As a part of the programme, floral tributes were paid to the departed Waree Leeba artistes of Thoubal District Waari Leeba Association.

All Manipur Waree Leeba Competition concludes

Waree Leeba artistes Irom Lakshman from Wabagai and Yumnam Manglem from Athokpam presented Waree Leeba performances today.

A total of 29 Wareeloi (narrative artiste) including 21 men and 8 women participated in the competition.

In the female category, Palungbam Ranibala of Sagolband won the first prize while Maibam Shyama Devi of Singjamei Irom Pukhri Mapal and Moirangthem Sanatombi Devi from Tentha won the second and third prizes respectively.

Whereas for the male category, Laishram Ibotomba of Thoubal Leishangthem and Soraisham Gunindro of Yairipok Bamon Leikai shared the first position while Laishram Somen of Tentha secured the second position and Laimayum Suranjoy of Charangpat secured the third place.

The winners were honoured with citations and cash awards presented by the dignitaries.
