Observing that the State Government has not taken up a single pragmatic step to address the pressing issue of water scarcity, Trinamool Congress Manipur unit president Kim Gangte has questioned whether the State Government is awaiting dead of people.
Speaking to media persons at their Tera Bazar office today, Kim Gangte slammed IFCD Minister's claim of having 20 days stock of water at Singda dam and his presumption of rainfall in the coming days.
Saying that people are not getting even a drop of water from Singda dam, Kim Gangte asked how would the Government ameliorate the issue of water scarcity if there is no rainfall in the coming weeks.
There is no coordination among the Council of Ministers.
It would be even better if there is no Government at all instead of having a Government which cannot do anything to lessen the woes of people.
The Government does not bother to regulate water price even as private water suppliers have been charging money at their sweet will.
She went on to ask, "Is the Government waiting for the time when people perish slowly?" .
The Government did not do anything to protect forest areas in hill districts.
It simply remained a mute spectator when several hundred hectares of forest areas were burnt for jhum cultivation every year.
The Government has no political will to find an alternative to jhum cultivation nor does it ever work for promotion of horticulture sector, the former MP flayed.
Talking about the Lok Sabha election, Kim Gangte said that Congress and NPF were allegations against each other for booth capturing in Outer Manipur P/C while Congress followed a policy of purchasing vote s, resorting to physical forces and expulsion if one refuses to sell one's voting right.
The Government simply looks the other way even as Mizoram armed police intruded into Manipur and harassed civilians in Tipaimukh area of Churachandpur.
It seemed the Government has forgotten that it is its duty to protect all the people of the State, she pointed out.
