Kangpokpi, November 04 2023:
The Kuki-Zo people observed the sixth remembrance day in Kuki-Zo dominated areas and paid tributes to the Kuki-Zo people killed in the ongoing violent crisis.
The remembrance day was observed at Kangpokpi town, Keithelmanbi, Sapar-meina, Motbung, Kotlen, Leimakhong and Saikul under the aegis of CoTU.
Candlelight vigil, motivational speech for the internally displaced persons, village volunteers, mass prayers etc marked the occasion.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, CoTU chairman Thanglen Kipgen who is also the finance secretary of the Zo-United accused incumbent Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the "architect" of the ongoing wide-scale mayhem.
"As we look back to the history of Manipur, there were many Chief Ministers who came and went, and the diverse communities in the State lived together peacefully", he said.
He continued that, however, when N Biren Singh came to power and became the Chief Minister of Mani-pur, he birthed hatred among the peacefully coexisting communities and finally made the State a hotbed of hatred, violence, and atrocities, disintegrating the hard earned unity, love, and bonding of the diverse communities.
He said that the mayhem could be brought to an end only with the implementation of separate adminis- tration for the Kuki-Zo people.
Meanwhile, the 48-hour total shutdown of KSO and CoTU culminated at 6 am on November 4 with no reports of any untoward incidents.
