Thoubal, September 24 2023:
Members of Youth Frontal Organisation, Thoubal district today called on MLAs of Assembly segments within the district to seek their views and opinions on how to handle the myriad of situations arising out of the prolonged ethnic crisis in the State.
The youth organisation is carrying out the campaign in the wake of serious concerns the people, specially youth, are facing due to the unprecedented crisis besieging the State for almost five months since May 3 .
The members first called on Wangkhem AC MLA, K Meghachandra at his Yairipok residence and sought his opinions on how to help end the ethnic crisis and the role he can play as a representative.
The members visited the residence of former Chief Minister and Thoubal AC MLA Okram Ibobi and Khangabok AC MLA O Suraj at Thoubal Athokpam to learn their thoughts on the prevailing crisis.
The youths also had telephonic conversations with Heirok AC MLA Th Radheshyam and Wangjing Tentha AC MLA Paonam Brojen who are presently stationed at New Delhi.
After the visits, the members convened a meeting at the historic Khongjom Kheba Ching to discuss the views and responses they received.
Speaking to this reporter about the campaign, media and publicity secretary of Youth Frontal Organisation Momon Moirangthem said that the common people have been badly affected economically and socially by the prolonged state of chaos.
Academic pursuits of the young students have been derailed while many have taken up arms to defend the aggression from marauding Kukis.
As such, the future of youths who are the pillars of the society is getting darker, he said.
The campaign was thus carried out to ascertain the views of the representatives/Meitei MLAs irrespective of their party affiliation and their ideas on how to help restore normalcy in the State and rescue the students and youths back from the chaos, he said.
Leaving one, the MLAs responded positively and were supportive of their campaign, he added.
