Farmers advised to adopt rotational cropping

Central Agricultural University (CAU), Imphal director (research) Prof LM Garnayak has encouraged farmers to plant different crops such as mustard, pulses, etc., on rotational basis instead of leaving the paddy fields fallow after harvest of particular crops.
A one-day farmer's field day cum training programme on 'Quality seed production of agricultural crops and its importance' was organised by the Directorate of Research, CAU at Lamboi Khul in Imphal East district on Saturday.
Speaking as chief guest of the inaugural function of the training programme, Prof Garnayak strongly advocated sowing good quality seeds to produce good yield, while further encouraging the farmers to adopt rotational farming, which would help increase both yield and income.
Leading farmer H Ibohalbi Singh attended the programme as president, while CAU, deputy director (Research) Dr T Shantibala, All India Coordinate Research Project on Seed (Crops) CAU, nodal officer Dr Th Robindro Singh and Makeng Dolaithabi Gram Panchayat ZP member N Sanatomba were present as guests of honour.
As part of the programme, good quality seeds were distributed to local farmers.
