Must cease violence to end conflict: AMDWA

All Manipur Democratic Women's Association (AMDWA) celebrated its 28th foundation day at Manipur Press Club here in Majorkhul on Sunday.
Presiding over the function, AMDWA president Ningthoukhongjam Sundari said that after members of All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) arrived in the state following the unrest situation, they have been visiting relief camps on both sides of the clash divide to understand the core issues.
If we were to end the on-going conflict in the state, we first need to stop both sides from engaging in violent acts.
Subsequently, requisite steps could then be taken up for restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, she added.
Questioning the inability to put an end to the conflict although the centre had dispatched thousands of central forces to the state till date; she said that both the central and state governments are responsible for continuation of the conflict till date.
AMDWA is an association affiliated to AIDWA, which is one the biggest associations in the country, and the second in the world.
The main object of the association is to ensure the welfare of women and children and take up steps/measures to curb crimes against women and children, she conveyed.
During the function, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) vice president L Tilotama; Bodoland University Assam, Commerce and Management Studies dean professor A Ibemcha Chanu and social activist Thounaojam Brinda spoke on women's issues.
