Imphal, September 24 2023:
Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) asserted that frequent imposition of curfew in Imphal valley areas to restrain the people instead of taking up initiatives with a political will by the government will never bring an end the ongoing conflict.
In a release, KSA publicity secretary L Rajesh pointed out that the differences in the orders issued by district magistrates, where some orders exempted schools and colleges from the curfew while others didn't mention anything about it, caused not only confusion but inconvenienced the people, the student community in particular.
Exempting of schools and colleges from curfew while ignoring the inconveniences faced by teachers and students as there is no passenger service during curfew is illogical, he reasoned, while enquiring how schools can function and students attend classes peacefully in such situations.
As such, instead of.
imposing frequent curfews and causing inconveniences to the people and the students, the government should take its full responsibility and end the conflict at the earliest.
In view of the unrest situation, emotionally charged protestors came out on the streets and launched protest against the government.
Such situation also caused troubles to students in pursuing their education, he pointed out.
Urging the people to remember that students are the pillars of the society, he urged not to disrupt students going to school, college or appearing examination.
