The second monthly programme held in connection with the 100th birth anniversary of author Khaidem Pramodini was organised by Leimarol Khorjeikol (LEIKOL) at its Kwakeithel Moirang Purel office, here, on Tuesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the programme held under the sponsorship of CMAT of Art and Culture Department, Imphal West adhakshya Dr Laishram Bobby Devi appealed to Manipuri writers to air their views on varied issues besieging the society without any inhibition.
While acknowledging role of writers in making a nation strong and developed and bringing goodness for all, Dr Bobby also called upon the people to encourage writers and authors so as to make them bring out the best.
Stating that the intangible assets left by Khaidem Pramodini for Manipur will remain forever, she advised established as well as rookie authors to follow the path of Pramodini and try to emulate her hard work to help enhance the literary wealth of the state.
Observing that the Manipuri society can develop to the fullest only when women writers are empowered and held high, she said that the trend of women looking down on their same counterparts needs to be stopped.
Presided over by LEIKOL vice president Ngangom Akashini, the programme was also attended by Hueiyen Lanpao senior reporter Nomita Khongbantabam.
