Imphal, September 24 2023:
As a follow up to the decision taken during a public assembly organised by Thawai Meerel, the attendees of the assembly went to BJP state president Adhikarimayum Sarda's residence at Brahmapur Aribam Leikai on Sunday and urged her to resign from the post.
Talking with the party president herself, one of the protestors named Kh Indrajit Singh recalled that during the public assembly on September 16, seven charter-of-demands were put forward.
One of the demands included lifting the internet ban, which was put into action recently, while other demands are yet to be realised.
Thus, as part of a unanimous decision to protest against the MLAs and office bearers of political parties, the protest on Sunday was carried out.
Stating that the centre's view on the state and the attitude of the Manipur MLAs currently in Delhi are no longer pleasing to the eyes, he said that the protestors talked with the BJP president, urging her and her fellow party members to resign so as to draw the attention of the centre.
However, their responses were unsatisfactory, repeating the same old excuse that they are doing all the best they could, when the conflict has been going for Over four months.
As such, the executive members including the office bearers of BJP were given time till Monday to talk with the Prime Minister and the union home minister and draw their attention to the prevailing situation in the state, he added.
According to Sarda, discussions were held with the masses including the members of Thawai Meerel on Sunday on how to bring about an amicable solution to the prevailing crisis in the shortest time possible.
She stated that the solution would be possible at the political platform and as such, assured the people that the party will try to bring a solution at the earliest, considering the party has formed the government and is the bridge connecting the people and the government.
